Atty.
Ignacio S. Sapalo, Managing Partner, obtained his Bachelor
of Science Degree, major in Engineering and Bachelor of Laws Degree
from the Ateneo de Manila University. Admitted to the practice of law
in 1968, he then engaged in active legal practice and became a
founding member of the firm. He was appointed as Director of the then
Bureau of Patents, Trademarks and Technology Transfer from 1987 to
1996. The author of several books on intellectual property including
the “Background Reading Material on the Intellectual Property System
of the Philippines” for WIPO, Atty. Sapalo led the group who crafted
the 1997 Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines. He is a
professor on Intellectual Property at the Ateneo de Manila University
School of Law. He is also the Founder and President of the
Intellectual Property Foundation, Executive Board Member of the
International Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines and President of
IProbe, Inc.
Atty.
Teresita C. Velez, Senior Partner, earned her Bachelor of
Laws Degree from the University of Sto. Tomas. Atty. Velez is among
the pioneering Filipino women to actively engage in the practice of
law in the Philippines. She has been involved in exclusive trademark
and patent practice for more than fifty (50) years. She served as
Advisory Board Member of both the World Intellectual Property Report
based in London, England and the International and Comparative Law
Center of the Southwestern Legal Foundation, University of Texas,
U.S.A. She speaks English, Spanish and Filipino.
Atty.
Augusto R. Bundang,
Partner and Head of the Litigation Department,
is a holder of a Bachelor of Arts Degree, major in Economics and
Bachelor of Laws Degree from the Ateneo de Manila University. He has
been engaged in active general litigation, licensing, corporate and
intellectual property practice for more than fifteen (15) years and a
columnist of a leading national newspaper, Business World. Atty.
Bundang was accorded an Honorary Membership by the Association of
Fellows and Legal Scholars of the Center for International Studies
based in Austria for his article on licensing. He participated in
training courses sponsored by the Japan International Cooperation
Agency and the Association of Overseas Technical Scholarship.
Atty. Neptali L. Bulilan,
Partner and Head of the
Patents and Trademarks Department,
took up his Bachelor of Science Degree, Mechanical
Engineering from the National University and Bachelor of Laws Degree
from the Far Eastern University. Both a licensed engineer and a
practicing lawyer, Atty. Bulilan served as Senior Patent Examiner of
the BPTTT from 1983 to 1989. He is actively engaged in the legal
practice specializing on intellectual property registration and
litigation. He was a training participant in various courses held at
the European Patent Office, University of London, University of
Strasbourge, France and the Australian Patent and Trademark Office. He
is an officer of the Philippine Association of Certified Patent Agents
and is the current president of the prestigious Rotary Club of
Marikina North District 3800. |
