SVBB holds in-house seminar workshop on Copyright

As part of its program for continuing legal education to its lawyers and paralegals, Sapalo Velez Bundang & Bulilan (SVBB) held a one-day in-house seminar and workshop on the subject of Copyright last June 4, 2016 at Makati Sports Club.  The event was aimed at keeping the lawyers and paralegals of the Firm updated on the law and procedure on Copyright.  The partners of the Firm gave their respective lectures on Copyright Basics, Rights associated with Copyright – economic, moral, droit de suite, and architectural, and neighboring rights.  The Firm’s Managing Partner, Ignacio S. Sapalo who once served as Director of the Bureau of Patents, Trademarks & Technology Transfer (now Intellectual Property Office, IPOPHL) who drafted the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines delivered his lecture on fair use as effective defense against copyright infringement suit.

The Firm regularly holds in-house seminars on its fields of practice like Patents and Trademark, Corporate Tax and Immigration, Seafarer and General Litigation.

The Firm also invited resource speakers to enhance the lectures namely, Atty. Leonardo Oliver F. Limbo, Attorney III who spoke on Enforcement of Copyright by the IPOPHL and Atty. Louie Andrew C. Calvario, Attorney VI from the Office of the Director General who spoke on the amendments to the Law on Copyright in IP Code introduced by R.A. No. 10372.
